What is a Google Maps QR Code?
The fastest way to share a precise location without typing an address or sending a link.
A Google Maps QR code encodes geographic coordinates — latitude and longitude — into a scannable
pattern using the standard geo: URI format supported by all modern smartphones. When someone scans
the code, their device opens the default maps application and drops a pin at the exact location. There is no
address to mistype, no link to copy, and no app to install.
Under the hood the payload looks like geo:52.5200,13.4050?q=52.5200,13.4050(Berlin). QRMint
builds this string for you automatically, then wraps it in a fully customisable QR image you can download as
PNG or SVG at up to 2048×2048 px — sharp enough for any printed sign, business card, or
large-format banner.
You can also use our free REST API to generate location QR codes programmatically. A single GET request is all it takes, making it easy to create dynamic QR codes for fleet management systems, real estate listings, or automated event signage. No API key is ever required.
When to Use a Google Maps QR Code
Anywhere people need to find a physical location quickly and without friction.
Retail & Storefronts
Print a location QR code on window stickers, receipts, and business cards so customers can navigate to your store with one scan. Place it in flyers and local advertisements to drive foot traffic. Pair with custom brand colours and your logo for a professional, on-brand look that stands out.
Events & Conferences
Add a location QR code to invitations, email confirmations, and on-site signage so attendees can navigate to the venue effortlessly. Ideal for multi-venue conferences where participants need directions to different buildings. Generate high-resolution SVG output for flawless reproduction on banners and screens.
Hotels & Tourism
Include a location QR code in booking confirmation emails, lobby signage, and tourist brochures. Guests scan to get turn-by-turn directions from wherever they are. Perfect for hotels in hard-to-find locations, rural retreats, or resorts where a street address alone is not enough.
Delivery & Logistics
Embed a location QR code on packages, shipping labels, or invoices linking to the pickup or drop-off point. Drivers scan the code and get instant navigation without manually entering an address. Reduces delivery errors and speeds up last-mile logistics, especially for locations without a standard postal address.
Corporate Offices
Add a location QR code to job postings, email signatures, and corporate stationery. Candidates, clients, and partners find your office without calling for directions. Especially useful for business parks and multi-building campuses where the correct entrance matters.
How to Create a Google Maps QR Code
Three steps. Under a minute. No account needed.
1. Enter Your Location
Type the latitude and longitude of your location into the generator above, or paste coordinates from Google Maps. Add an optional location label so the pin displays a recognisable name when scanned.
2. Customise the Design
Pick colours that match your brand, choose a module shape, and optionally apply a frame template like "Scan Me". Upload your logo to embed it in the centre of the code. Save your style as a reusable preset.
3. Download & Share
Download as PNG (ideal for digital screens and standard print) or SVG (infinitely scalable for large-format print). Share on business cards, flyers, signage, or digitally via email and social media.

Google Maps QR Code FAQ
How do I create a QR code for a Google Maps location?
Open Google Maps and find your location. Right-click (or long-press on mobile) to copy the latitude and longitude coordinates. Paste them into QRMint's location QR code generator above, optionally add a location name, customise the colours and style, then click Generate. Download the resulting PNG or SVG and print it wherever you need it. The entire process takes under a minute and requires no signup or payment.
Can I link to a specific business on Google Maps?
Yes. Use the exact latitude and longitude of the business and enter the business name in the optional location label field. When scanned, the device will open its maps app with a pin at those coordinates labelled with the business name. On most smartphones this is enough to trigger a nearby search result for the business, showing reviews, hours, and directions.
Will the QR code work on all smartphones?
Yes. The geo: URI scheme is supported natively by both iOS and Android. iPhones open Apple
Maps by default (or Google Maps if installed and set as default), while Android devices open Google Maps.
The QR code itself can be scanned by any smartphone camera app released in the last five years — no
special reader app is required.
Can I customize the QR code with my brand colors?
Absolutely. QRMint offers full colour customisation including custom foreground and background colours, linear and radial gradients, four module shapes, four eye shapes, six frame templates, and logo embedding. You can save your style as a reusable preset for consistent branding across multiple QR codes. Use the REST API to generate branded codes programmatically.
Does the Google Maps QR code expire?
No. A location QR code is static — it encodes the geographic coordinates at the moment you generate it and never expires. As long as the physical location exists, the QR code remains valid indefinitely. If your business moves to a new address, simply generate a new QR code with the updated coordinates using QRMint and replace the old one wherever it is displayed.
Need other QR code types? QRMint also generates URL, vCard, Email, Phone, SMS, WiFi, Event, and Payment QR codes — all free, no signup, with the same full styling options.
