What data does an event QR code contain?
An event QR code encodes calendar data in the iCalendar VEVENT format. This includes the event title, start date and time, end date and time (optional), location, and description. When scanned, the attendee’s phone offers to add the event directly to their calendar app with all fields pre-filled.
Which calendar apps support event QR codes?
All major calendar apps support the iCalendar standard: Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Samsung Calendar, and virtually every other calendar application. Both iOS and Android devices recognise VEVENT data natively when scanning a QR code with the default camera app.
Can I include a link or URL in the event QR code?
Yes. Use the description field to include any URL — an RSVP link, a ticket purchase page, a video call link, or directions to the venue. When the attendee saves the event, the URL appears in the event notes and is tappable in most calendar apps.
How large should I print an event QR code?
