A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL into its pattern. That redirect URL points to a destination you control, so you can change the landing page, menu, ticket page, or campaign URL at any time — without touching the printed code. The pattern on paper stays identical; only the destination changes. Static QR codes, by contrast, bake the final URL directly into the pattern, meaning a change in destination requires reprinting every copy.

What is the difference between a static and dynamic QR code?
A static QR code encodes the final destination URL (or other data) directly and permanently into its pattern. Once printed, it cannot be changed — if the destination moves, you must reprint every copy. A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL instead. The redirect points to a destination you control, so you can update where the code sends scanners at any time without touching the printed pattern. Dynamic codes also enable scan tracking and analytics through the redirect layer.
Can I change the URL after creating the QR code?

To change the destination, you need a redirect service that sits between the printed QR code and the final page: the QR code points to the redirect URL (which never changes), and the redirect service forwards visitors to whichever destination you currently configure. What is the best size for a dynamic QR code?
For print use, generate at 1024×1024 px or 2048×2048 px PNG, or use the SVG format for infinite scalability. As a general rule, a QR code should be at least 2×2 cm (about 0.8 inches) when printed, with a scanning distance of roughly ten times the code width. For a poster viewed from 1 metre, aim for a 10 cm code. For a billboard, scale accordingly. Always test with a smartphone before mass printing.
